Pattern of TISSNET

TATA Institute of Social Sciences conducts its national level post graduate management entrance test- TISSNET usually in January month. The test is conducted for admissions to Masters in Social Work and other 56 related programs across its four main campuses. The TISSNET scores are accepted by TISS Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and other campuses.

Exam Pattern

  • Exam will be conducted in online mode
  • The test duration will be of 1 hour 40 minutes
  • 100 question will be asked in the test
  • English Proficiency will consist of 30 marks, General Awareness 40 marks, Maths and Logical Reasoning – 30 marks.

Syllabus of Exam

Social Sensitivity section

This section will have questions related to general awareness and current affairs. It is likely that this section will be of moderate difficulty level. The topics on which you can expect the questions are as follows:

  • Social Activities and Movements
  • Meaning of terms
  • Recent social issues
  • History
  • Current affairs

Analytical and Numerical Ability section

Difficulty of this level will be of moderate level, and will have questions related to Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and mathematics. The common topics that appear in this section are as follows:

  • Ratio
  • Square Root
  • Time & Distance
  • HCF, LCM
  • Mixtures and Alligations
  • Time & Work
  • BODMAS
  • Percentage
  • Average

Verbal Ability section

The topics that might come under this section are:

  • Acronyms
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Analogy
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Synonyms & Antonyms

Logical Reasoning section

The questions of this section is expected to appear in the form of caselets. The topics would be similar to that of other MBA entrance exams. Some of the areas which will be covered under this section are:

  • Puzzles
  • Family tree/blood relations
  • Calendar and Clocks
  • Arrangement
  • Venn Diagram
  • Syllogism
  • Binary Logic

Selection Process

The selection of candidates for different programmes happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. All candidates appear for the National entrance test (TISS NET). Based on the performance in the TISS NET examination, only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview.(PIT/PI)
