Tips For Good Resume

In today’s competitive world, once you are completed with your MBA, next important step would be recruitment from top organizations. It is the time when the candidate needs to create his/her resume.

At this time the first and foremost step is candidate must know what the resume should be like.  A resume is an observable document, which means that you are summarizing your academics and experiences using a format that is systematic and organized. This resume serves as the candidate’s “First Impression”.

Let us look at the points which should be kept in mind while creating a MBA resume.

  • Provide contact Information

This should be written on the top left corner of the document. It includes your Name, Contact information.

  • Mention the Job title

It is the prime step to provide a job title. It includes an overview that highlights the candidate’s responsibilities, skills, achievements. Candidates who have many years of experience can brief down their workings, like name of the organization and tenure.

  • Use Bullets/Pointers

Always make use of the bulletins. Don’t make your resume too hard to read. Your resume should not look like a novel that scares the readers. So Using bullets, brief down your points. And, do not write unnecessary information.

  • Mention your leadership qualities

Providing candidate’s leadership skills is mandatory on an MBA Resume. Skills like positivity, how motivational you have been at your previous workplace, flexibility, commitment.

  •  Easy to read Resume

The resume should not  be lengthy at all. Recruiters find it boring when it comes to heavy texts.

  • Verifiable Information

The information that is written on your resume should be authentic, like  educational background, contact information. Recruiters reject  MBA applicants if they provide false and fraudulent information.

  • Good use of vocabulary

Make good use of vocabulary words, instead of simple words. As you will be going for the top-notch organizations, you must have good command over the language.

  • No personal information

The recruiters are simply not interested in knowing the candidate’s personal details like, height, weight, marital status, children etc. Do not provide these details as the recruiters find it deficient.

More MBA Graduates to be hired in 2018

The most common observation is that almost every fresh management graduate is worried about his placement. MBA job market is offering robust employment opportunities for management graduates and business master holders.

Irrespective of the immigration and work visa issues arosen after the wave of change of political situation of world’s biggest economy -US,companies are keen to hire management  graduates for this year as well. This signifies the importance of the management programme.

A survey on corporate recruiters conducted in 2017 highlighted that 9/10 employers are keen for hiring MBA and business masters’ graduates, about 86% of companies over the globe planned  to hire business master and mba degree holders 17% more in 2017.

Also demand for management graduates is highest in America and Asian region, also reported by the survey.

In 2017, 59% of the total employers planned to hire MBA’s which was 50% more than  the  stats of 2016. Employers of countries like Latin America, USA, members of European union, nations in Asia  state that they will continue hiring international candidates despite formulation or alteration of any immigration law.

A greater percentage of employers hire MBA graduates of accounts/finances programs. 60% of companies hire candidates in data analytics; apart from this business development, finance profile, marketing, human resources continue to be high in demand.

The repayment to these professional services i.e. the remuneration also looks pretty encouraging as 2017, 52% of global employers planned to increase the initial salary for MBAs. Many US based companies offered base salary of $1,10,000  as compared to $105,000 in 2016.

It is expected that the same change could be observed in the changing year therefore we can conclude that international firms are keen enough to hire MBA graduates and Master Degree holders as a crucial part of their organisations.

IIM Lucknow to conduct CAT’17

The duty for the preliminary exam for the management field i.e. CAT, is in the hand of indian institutes of management at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh for the Second time in the tenure since 2009. The last exam conducted by IIM, Lucknow was in 2010 which was pretty competitive.

PATTERN

As well known to all , the paper is divided in 3 section –

  1. Quantitative Ability
  2. Verbal and Reading Comprehension
  3. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

With a total no. of 100 questions. Questions are objective type and approximately 20 to 25% are non MCQs. Also, each question carries 2-3 marks each and it also consist of negative marking; 1 mark deducted on every wrong answer.

Last year in 2016 , 2,32,434 students applied for appearing in the CAT exam highest since 2010 and 1,95,000 appeared for the exam same as 2012.

Expectation from IIML

  1. Due to having different approach in admission processes, it is assumed that IIML would bring changes in the exam structure increasing the difficulty level for the same.

10 TIPS TO CRACK CAT IF YOU ARE STARTING YOUR PREPARATION NOW

CAT – Common Admission Test, The biggest gateway to a better future for every individual who is willing to excel in the field of management. CAT is said to grow more strenuous with every passing year which make it difficult to crack, but not impossible!! Here are some tips which can help you conquer all the 3 sections of the CAT exam –

TIPS

  • Calmness increases caliber

It is a very commonly observed fact that during evaluation, people get nervous and starts panicking  which leads to freezing of mind’s decision making power. That’s when the problem starts. When you are not in a state of calmness you tend to have distorted understanding of questions which would result in wrong answering. Therefore it is an utmost necessity to be calm during the preparation and the exam as well.

  • Complete knowledge of what you are going to face

While preparing for any battle it is important for every warrior to know its enemy, your battle is against

The three sections of CAT, which are-

  1. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
  2. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
  3. Quantitative Aptitude

It is important for you to be known to the topics that are included in each section and properly cover each of it for the triumph.

  • Speed And Accuracy

It is said the fast leaves the time behind , as known to everyone each section is provided with 60 min, which makes it important for everyone to increase the Speed and coline it with Accuracy of responding as well.

  • Read and Repeat

In the VA & RC section – Para completion, para jumble, vocab based, grammar based questions are the ones that cover this whole section. For mastering these questions it is needed to master the skill of choosing valid conclusion ,it is important to understand the tone of the questions and match it with the given responses. Also, for vocab and grammar questions you need to read as much as you can and get thorough with all the rules of english  grammar.

  • Read and Pause and Formulate

Understanding is the basis of answering each question correctly, you should read each question carefully and formulate its asking. You can do so by:

  1. Giving attention to Prefixes and suffixes of the words
  2. Carefully take care of specific words like – all/ none/ otherwise/ only/ if.

Also, do not assume the meaning of any word, try and read it again if you don’t understand it once.

  • Practice mock tests in online setting

Practicing mock tests in similar online settings will give you some what actual experience , try and set time limit by yourself less than every last practice attempt to manage your time limit in the actual exam.

  • Books and Material

Another important thing is  to choose you study material very carefully , there are a lot of authors in the market but each one has different experience and pattern of studies. When you ask the almighty google to guide you for the best CAT books it states the name of authors like Arun Sharma, books by Nitish Sinha and others which are the only ones you should prefer and refer.

  • Set Target

A target driven person is never misguided by his intuition. Set your target in terms of college or percentile or year of clearance(eg – CAT’17 or CAT’18). Your target will help you conceive complete plan of your preparation

  • Preparation for Next Step

Preparation should not be limited to the online exam, but practice for further rounds should also be commenced with theoretical preparation. For example, while preparing for CAT, do focus on next step i.e. GD/PI/WAT too as it plays a crucial role in the conversion of call from any top notch B-school.

  • Guidance

Self study is the best way to prepare for any exam but every person needs a proper guidance from someone who has already been through the same door. Therefore if you are willing to take coaching from any institution do not hesitate as it will give a boost to your individual efforts. Choose your institution wisely after formulating aspects like – faculty, their experience / batch strength / study pattern etc

All these tips can help you in preparation for the exam but at the end all that matters is how dedicated you are towards your dream and how desperate you are to attain them.

ALL THE BEST !!
